i HATE writing

well, the kind where i am begging for research money, anyhow. it just puts me in a terrible mood. blog writing is not SO bad. but i do tend to put that off a lot also. so here's what i've been up to:

last weekend we went to a pirates game. i don't even know who they played. i think it was kansas city. anyhow, we had a pretty good time. the kids were well behaved for the most part (aside from maggie spitting water in morgan's face and on the people in front of her). at one point morgan and marisa got some cotton candy to share and erik kept leaning forward to grab pieces of it. his last grab pulled almost the whole wad off. they were so sweet about it though (no pun intended), and didn't even get mad at him. it rained off and on most of the game, i guess, but fortunately for us we had some really great seats that were under shelter so we didn't get wet. they delayed it for about an hour at one point after the 7th inning, but went ahead to lose the game as everyone expected they would. here are some photos from that day.

my brother scott came up to visit on that day with his posse but we didn't get to see much of them since peter and i were both working. we were happily invited to have dinner with them on tuesday and wednesday nights and had a good time. the kids loved running around on the sidewalk after dinner at rock bottom. i forgot my camera but took a few pictures with my phone.

this one cracks me up. it just looks SO wrong:

i also took a picture of erik and this little girl macee who has been his best friend at daycare for as long as i can remember. they're so cute together. every morning when i drop him off she always comes over to the door right away and usually brings him a toy and/or hugs him. sometimes he'll go over and hug her, or if he's really not in the mood he'll hide from her behind my legs. the past few times i've dropped him off he has grabbed a puzzle from the rack and macee got one too and they sit down at the table to do their puzzles. here they are ... aren't they cute?

i find it kind of funny that she grabbed the butterfly and he took the vehicles. it amazes me how boys and girls even at this young age have such different tastes, and makes me wonder, how much of this is our (their parents) doing, and what/how other factors are involved.

i took some more flower pictures around our neighborhood, and we had a pretty great fourth of july weekend, but i will save those photos for another post. now i need to get to bed! this week will be crazy with trying to get my grant application completed and all of our stuff ready for our impending vacation. i am SO looking forward to being there and all settled in ... packing and driving there, not so much.
