erik has been sick for the past few days with a cold, stuffy nose, yucky cough and the like. this morning i left him inside to play while i went out to shovel the snow, and when i came back inside he was whimpering on the floor and said "hold me mommy!" i felt terrible that i'd left him, and when i picked him up, he threw up all over my shoulder, then said "you need to change your shirt." poor kid. i couldn't send him to school like that, so i let him stay home. we spent a lot of the day watching maisy and he actually took a nice long nap. i stole a few minutes while he was sleeping to go outside and photograph some more snowflakes.
peter came home a little early so i could spend the evening catching up on my work at the lab. afterward i went over to the southside to grab a quick dinner, and it was just beautiful, a blanket of white covering everything and muting all the sounds, the streets almost empty of cars and people. i got home in time to tuck erik in, and he seems to be doing much better tonight. hopefully he'll be well in the morning so we can get back to normal. but for today, it was a nice sick day/snow day.

Your snowflake pictures are fascinating to me. What is the background? I am lucky if I can get a quasi-close up for my ebay auctions.

thank you so much for your comments! :) the backgrounds for most of them are fleece, a jacket, a hat, and a scarf. i tried a few different fabrics and that seems to look the best. and erik is feeling much better today!
